Revolution in Steel Connection Design: New Book with Czech Expertise is Changing the Engineering World
In October this year, a groundbreaking book titled Steel Connection Design by Inelastic Analysis was published, authored by a team of experts from universities in the United States and the Czech Republic. Brno University of Technology (VUT) is represented by Martin Vild from the Department of Metal and Timber Structures at the Faculty of Civil Engineering.
The 369-page book compares the revolutionary Component-Based Finite Element Method (CBFEM) with traditional design approaches and numerical simulations. The CBFEM method, developed by the Brno-based company IDEA StatiCa in collaboration with universities in Brno and Prague, is transforming steel connection design worldwide.
The book is intended for structural engineers who seek to incorporate advanced methods into their design practices. It provides insights into how to validate inputs and outputs, as well as how to identify and explain differences between traditional and advanced methodologies.
