Syllabus
1. Shunting yards, functions, position in railway network. Development of sorting technology.
2. Set of reception sidings. Set of sorting sidings. Set of departure sidings, tracks for thoroughgoing trains.
3. Hump, technical equipment.Sets of tracks design, longitudinal section of hump track, dynamic estimation.
4. Passenger stations, types, technology, extent. Switch and track layout, equipment and efficiency. Railhead and through passenger stations.
5. Storage stations, technology, sets of tracks arrangement. Equipment of storage stations.
6. Depots, running shed. Technology, the arrangement of trackage.
7.–8. Railway siding (factory, industrial), set of tracks, connection to railway stations, interchange tracks.
9.–10. Railway junctions, passenger and goods traffic.
Exercise

1. Specifying of the project, guidelines to draw up.
2. Design of hump height.
3. Design of turnout assembly, sets of tracks.
4. Design of longitudinal profile.
5. Dynamic evaluation of hump.
6. Format and content of drawings – Setting out drawing, longitudinal profile.
7. Consultation on the project.
8. Submitting of the projects, credit.
