Lecture

13 weeks, 2 hours/week, elective

Syllabus

  • 1. Shunting yards, functions, position in railway network. Development of sorting technology.
  • 2. Set of reception sidings. Set of sorting sidings. Set of departure sidings, tracks for thoroughgoing trains.
  • 3. Hump, technical equipment.Sets of tracks design, longitudinal section of hump track, dynamic estimation.
  • 4. Passenger stations, types, technology, extent. Switch and track layout, equipment and efficiency. Railhead and through passenger stations.
  • 5. Storage stations, technology, sets of tracks arrangement. Equipment of storage stations.
  • 6. Depots, running shed. Technology, the arrangement of trackage.
  • 7.–8. Railway siding (factory, industrial), set of tracks, connection to railway stations, interchange tracks.
  • 9.–10. Railway junctions, passenger and goods traffic.

  • 1. Specifying of the project, guidelines to draw up.
  • 2. Design of hump height.
  • 3. Design of turnout assembly, sets of tracks.
  • 4. Design of longitudinal profile.
  • 5. Dynamic evaluation of hump.
  • 6. Format and content of drawings – Setting out drawing, longitudinal profile.
  • 7. Consultation on the project.
  • 8. Submitting of the projects, credit.
