Syllabus

  • 1. Assessment of existing structures.
  • 2. Overview of modern diagnostic methods.
  • 3. Evaluation of properties of concrete in structures.
  • 4.–5. Non-Destructive and Destructive Methods of Testing Concrete in Structures.
  • 6.–7. Methods for location of the reinforcement - electromagnetic, radiation, GPR.
  • 8.–9. Diagnostics of brick masonry and stone structures
  • 10.–11. Diagnostics of wooden and steel structures.
  • 12. Monitoring of Cracks.
  • 13. Excursion – demonstration of diagnostics.

Exercise

13 weeks, 1 hours/week, compulsory

Syllabus

  • 1.–2. Assignment of the seminar work, proposal of diagnostics of reinforced concrete or brick construction.
  • 3.–4. Non-destructive testing of concrete – homogenity, indicators of reinforcement.
  • 5.–6. Testing of cores, the characteristic compressive strength of concrete.
  • 7.–8. Radar method (GPR), radiation defectoscopy.
  • 9.–10. Testing of brick masonry.
  • 11.–12. Presentation of seminar papers.
  • 13. Credit.
