Syllabus
- Introduction to open channel flow.
- Basic theory of open channels flow.
- I. Mathematical formulation of 1D flow problém.
- II. Mathematical formulation of 1D flow problém.
- Saint-Venant equations.
- Mathematical formulation of the problem of transportation and dispersion.
- Numerical solution.
- The movement of sediment load.
- The issue of determining the open channel roughness.
- Practical problems the flow calculation.
- Structures on streams (weirs, bridges, culverts).
- Hydraulic solutions crossing bridges and culverts with watercourses.
- The issue of ice phenomena on rivers.
Exercise
13 weeks, 2 hours/week, compulsory
Syllabus
- Introduction, solving example No. 1.
- Creating a basic task in the HEC-RAS, procedure for the definition geometry data and boundary conditions. Solving the example.
- Start calculation, results presentation. Solution Example 1. HEC-RAS.
- Computation of the water levels in the reach of channel for various boundary conditions.
- Practicing on examples.
- Entering inefficient areas and levees.
- Determination of capacity in the specified section of the flow.
- Tributary, flow change location.
- Structures on stream – bridges.
- Structures on stream – culverts.
- Structures on stream – bed drop, weirs.
- Structures on stream – weirs.
- Presentation of exercises, presentations of dealt works in the workplace. Granting of credit.
