Syllabus
- 1. Introduction to the subject (terminology, case studies).
- 2. Types of geomaterials (soils, rocks, light materials, geosynthetics) and their properties.
- 3. Mathematical modeling in geotechnics.
- 4. Stiffness and strength of soils.
- 5. Constitutive models – elasticity and perfect plasticity.
- 6. Constitutive models – plasticity with hardening.
- 7. Shallow foundations.
- 8. Pile and combined fundations.
- 9. Retaining structures.
- 10. Underground structures.
- 11. Monitoring in geotechnics.
Exercise

- 1. Basic tasks in geotechnics and their solutions.
- 2. Determination of properties geomaterials.
- 3. Exercise in laboratory – oedometric test.
