Syllabus
1. Structure serviceability. Faults sources – monitoring and possibilities of their reduction.
2. Method of diagnostic investigation of concrete and masonry structures.
3. Definition and methods of load-bearing capacity determination of concrete and masonry structures. Preparation, extent and methods of loading tests.
4. Conditions for realisation of reconstructions from the structural viewpoint. Methods of strengthening.
5. Methods of strengthening of concrete structures.
6. Methods of strengthening of masonry structures.
7. Strengthening of structures with free prestressing reinforcement – prestressing, injection and guniting, structural analysis.
8. Strengthening of structures with incoherent prestressing reinforcement – structural solution and analysis.
9.- 10. Strengthening and reconstruction of structures using concrete, steel and timber.
11. Foundation reconstructions.
12. Structural solution of buildings extensions, superstructures and buildings-in.
13. Temporary provision of structures at reconstructions. Deformation of strengthened structures and its monitoring. Mortal improvement by injection. Application of glued carbon fibres.
Exercise

Syllabus
1.- 2. Strengthening of compressed members: Strengthening of masonry column with steel plates.
3.- 4. Strengthening of masonry column with concrete envelope. Checking.
5.- 6. Strengthening of concrete members subjected to bending moment: Strengthening using additional reinforcement and concrete envelope.
7.- 8. Strengthening with carbon fibre reinforced polymers (CFRP).
9.- 10. Strengthening with post-tensioning. Checking.
11.- 12. Strengthening of timber floor structure: Reinforced concrete (RC) slab. Calculation of deflection.
13. Design submission. Credit.
