Syllabus
1. Introduction and introduction to the problems of building construction; process of building design as a balanced cooperation of professions. Basic functional, material, technological and technical requirements for building structures.
2. Basic terminology, overview of basic building structures.
3. Types of buildings, function of the house and its and internal environment - brief typological rules.
4. Construction requirements for building structures, resistance of buildings to external influences. Requirements for limiting heat leakage and hygiene of indoor environment, technological requirements. Stability and spatial stiffness of building, principles for design of load-bearing structures of buildings.
5. Structures connecting different levels - basic requirements, nomenclature, division and design of stairs.
6. Structures connecting different levels - design of staircases, examples of types and their specifics, structural design, ramps and elevators.
7. Process and construction realization, main participants of the construction process. Methodology of design process. Preparation and progress of construction, earthwork and foundation soil, basic terminology.
8. Ceiling structures - functional division of horizontal structures, composition, basic requirements and classification.
9. Ceiling structures - description of individual systems, advantages and disadvantages, method of implementation, variants of use.
10. Acoustics of buildings - basic requirements for buildings, legislation and standards, methods of design and demonstration of buildings.
11. Use of buildings by persons with reduced mobility, design principles.
12. Thermal protection of buildings and principles for energy savings - thermal comfort in interiors, thermal properties of structures, energy efficiency.
13. Roof construction - basic terminology, types of structures, classification and demonstration of compositions.

Syllabus
The aim of practices is to teach students the proper ways of drafting. More specifically the usage of actually valid standards about construction drawings. Throughout practices, students are bound to work on studies, floor plans and sections.
1. Introduction to practices. Drafting standards. Paper format and arrangement of paper space. Technical lettering. Scales in drafting. Line types and line weight in drawings of buildings.
2. Drafting according to latest standards – Hatching. Dimensioning. Leaders and bubbles. Drawing of plumbing fixtures and furniture. Floor and room numbering.
3. Drafting according to latest standards – Basics of typology. Modular coordination.
4. Drafting according to latest standards – Drawing of windows.
5. Drafting according to latest standards – Drawing of doors and gates.
6. Drafting according to latest standards – Surface finishes. Chimneys and ventilation shafts.
7. Drafting according to latest standards – First-floor plan and sections of a building without basement (case study)
8. First-floor plan respecting modular coordination and basics of typology
9. Drafting according to latest standards – First-floor plan and the section of a building without basement (individual assignment)
10. Drafting according to latest standards – Stairway design. Drafting of stairs.
11. Drafting according to latest standards – Ceilings.
12. Drafting according to latest standards – Views.
13. Submission and final evaluation of presented work.
