Grammar

  • Tenses: Near future (futur proche), recent past (passé récent), and compound past (passé composé) for narrating past events.
  • Verbs & Conjugation: Modal verbs (vouloir, pouvoir, devoir, savoir), reflexive verbs in the present tense, the irregular verb vendre, and verbs like partir.
  • Pronouns & Rules: Direct object pronouns (COD), forming prohibitions and commands.

Vocabulary & Topics

  • Fashion & Objects: Clothing, accessories, everyday technology, and describing physical properties of objects.
  • Housing & Home: Apartments, houses, furniture, household items, building rules, and the "dream house" concept.
  • Daily Routine: Daily activities, telling time, and daily schedules.
  • Personal Life: Myself and my life, family, and school.

Communication Skills

  • Past Narration: Coherently describing past events and personal experiences (passé composé and passé récent).
  • Planning & Expressing Intentions/Possibilities: Expressing upcoming plans (futur proche), wishes, obligations, capabilities, and permissions (modal verbs).
  • Describing Environment & Routine: Giving detailed descriptions of one's home, furniture, and daily schedule.
  • Shopping & Instructions: Navigating shopping situations (clothing, tech), issuing commands, giving instructions, and setting rules.

Review & Assessment

  • Introductory review of core topics (introductions, family, school).
  • Comprehensive review blocks for Units 5, 6, and 7.
  • Revision through interactive games and quizzes, followed by the final credit test (Week 13).

The course places a strong emphasis on speaking and conversation. Students frequently work in pairs or small groups. The material is taught in an engaging and playful manner, incorporating videos, listening exercises, songs, games, and quizzes.

Aims

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:
Grammar & Language Knowledge

  • Correctly conjugate and practically apply the near future (futur proche), recent past (passé récent), and compound past (passé composé).
  • Master the conjugation of modal verbs (vouloir, pouvoir, devoir, savoir), present tense reflexive verbs, verbs like partir, and the verb vendre.
  • Use direct object pronouns (COD) to replace nouns in sentences.
  • Form sentences expressing commands, instructions, and prohibitions.

Communication & Practical Skills

  • Coherently narrate past events, personal experiences, and life stories.
  • Express future plans, intentions, obligations, wishes, possibilities, and capabilities.
  • Describe their daily routine, everyday activities, and telling time in detail.
  • Describe their living situation, house or apartment, furniture, and building rules.
  • Interact effectively in shopping scenarios (clothing, accessories, technology) and describe physical properties of objects within the scope of Units 5, 6, and 7.

Week 2: Vocabulary: clothing, accessories, fashion; the verb vendre

Week 3: Near future tense (futur proche); modal verbs (vouloir, pouvoir, devoir, savoir)

Week 4: Describing objects; technology around us; shopping scenarios

Week 5: Recent past tense (passé récent); pronominal verbs in the present tense

Week 6: My daily life; telling time; verbs like partir

Week 7: Past tense (passé composé); apartments and houses

Week 8: Past tense (passé composé); furniture and describing an apartment

Week 9: Past tense (passé composé); apartment building rules; the house of my dreams

Week 10: Direct object pronouns (COD); prohibitions and commands

Week 11: Review of passé composé; storytelling in the past tense

Week 12: Revision of topics from Units 5, 6, and 7

Week 13: Practice of the covered material through games and quizzes; final credit test
