Grammar

  • Reflexive Verbs: Conjugation of reflexive verbs in the present tense and forming their past tense.
  • Possessive Pronouns: Usage and forms of possessive pronouns (including rules with family terms).
  • Compound Past Tense (passato prossimo): Past tense formation using auxiliary verbs essere and avere, regular and irregular past participles (participio passato).

Vocabulary & Topics

  • Housing & Home: Types of accommodation, house vs. apartment, and renting a flat.
  • Family & Daily Life: Family relations, personal life, and daily routines.
  • Holidays & Vacation: Leisure activities, travel, and vacation planning.
  • Time & Seasons: Seasons of the year and seasonal activities.

Communication Skills

  • Housing & Routine: Describing living situations, managing flat rentals, and talking about daily routines in detail.
  • Past Narration: Coherently describing past events (e.g., "what you did yesterday"), recounting past vacations, and sharing past experiences.
  • Planning & Coordination: Planning  holidays or trip with friends.
  • Seasonal Activities: Describing favorite hobbies and activities tailored to specific seasons.

Review & Assessment

  • Introductory review of Units 3 & 4 alongside icebreaking activities.
  • Thematic review of Units 5 & 6, including past tense practice through interactive games and quizzes.
  • Final content summary and credit test (Week 13).

The course emphasizes speaking, pair work, and group work. Lessons include videos, listening activities, songs, and games.

Aims

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:
Grammar & Language Knowledge

  • Conjugate and correctly use reflexive verbs in both present and past tenses.
  • Correctly form and apply the compound past tense (passato prossimo) with auxiliary verbs essere and avere for both regular and common irregular verbs.
  • Properly apply possessive pronouns (including specific usage rules with family members).
  • Utilize an expanded vocabulary related to housing, daily routines, travel, holidays, and seasons.

Communication & Practical Skills

  • Describe living situations, manage basic formalities for renting an apartment, and talk about home environments.
  • Describe daily schedules and personal routines in detail.
  • Coherently narrate past events (e.g., describing activities from yesterday or recounting past vacations).
  • Discuss family background, relatives, and personal relationships.
  • Coordinate with friends to plan joint holidays, trips, or leisure activities based on different seasons.
  • Actively converse and respond to common everyday scenarios within the scope of Units 5 and 6.

Week 6: Introduction to the past tense (passato prossimo)

Week 7: Past tense – regular and irregular verbs; What did you do yesterday?

Week 8: I am able to make arrangements with a friend and plan a vacation
