Italian for Pre-Intermediate Students

VYI003 course is not part of any programme in the faculty
This course is designed for students who have mastered the material covered in courses VYI001 and VYI002. In terms of grammar, students will be introduced to possessive pronouns, reflexive verbs, and the past tense (passato prossimo). Additional irregular verbs will be introduced (such as uscire, along with a review of modal verbs).
Regarding vocabulary, students will first focus on housing: different types of accommodation and describing a house or an apartment. They will further deepen their ability to converse about family and hobbies. Afterwards, they will learn vocabulary related to holidays and vacations. They will plan a vacation together with their classmates and will be able to recount what they did during their holidays, as well as what they liked and disliked.
The course emphasizes speaking, pair work, and group work. Lessons include videos, listening activities, songs, and games.

Student will accomplish the aim of the course, which is: mastering vocabulary to the extent of 800 words, basic grammar for speaking in the Present Future and Past tenses.

Week 3: Possessive pronouns; my family
Week 4: I can rent an apartment; talking about my daily routine (using reflexive verbs)
Week 5: Holidays and vacation – what do I like to do?
Week 6: Introduction to the past tense (passato prossimo)
Week 7: Past tense – regular and irregular verbs; What did you do yesterday?
Week 8: I am able to make arrangements with a friend and plan a vacation
Week 9: How did I spend my last holiday?; past tense of reflexive verbs
