Entry Knowledge

Fundamental knowledge of building physics and thermal engineering.
Fundamental knowledge of heating systems, especially the thermal calculations.
Fundamental knowledge of the principle of pipeline network design.
Fundamental knowledge of building acoustics.

Aims

Professional Knowledge

The student understands the principles of indoor environmental conditions, the properties and treatment of humid air, and the basic principles of natural and mechanical ventilation, air-conditioning, cooling and heat recovery. The student understands the basic principles of noise control in ventilation systems.

Professional Skills

The student is able to design and assess basic ventilation and air-conditioning systems for residential and non-residential buildings with regard to thermal and moisture loads, energy efficiency and acoustics.

Professional Competence

The student is able to apply professional knowledge in the design and assessment of ventilation and air-conditioning systems and select appropriate solutions considering indoor environmental requirements.

  • 8. Water- and refrigeration-based systems in air-conditioning and their design.
  • 9. Cooling in HVAC systems.
  • 10. Heat recovery in HVAC systems.
  • 11. Noise in HVAC systems and its attenuation. Design of damping elements.
  • 12. Regulation of HVAC equipment, applications of HVAC systems in industry.
  • 13. Applications of HVAC systems in residential and public buildings.
