Aims
Knowledge
- The student understands and can use basic terminology in the design and assessment of load-bearing structures and transport structures. The student can summarize and classify the different types of load-bearing structures and transport structures. The student can distinguish between the basic types of construction materials and their properties.
- The student is able to apply the above knowledge in relation to further work and skills development in the design and assessment of load-bearing structures and transport structures. The student is able to determine the basic loads of structures and is able to work with the basic principles, rules and procedures in the design of selected metal, timber and concrete structures and within transport structures particularly road and rail structures.
- The student is able to apply the above knowledge and skills in further study of the more challenging issues of detailed principles and procedures in the design of load bearing structures and transport structures.
